Christian formation is not something we’re ever finished with, as though we could check it off a list; it is a life-long pursuit. Sometimes we study alone, sometimes together, but always with the purpose of learning better how to know God, follow Jesus, and bring God's love and grace to the world.
St. Paul's offers Christian education experiences to all ages on Sunday morning. During Advent, Lent, and at other times during the year, there are evening classes focused on specially selected readings--Bible and book studies, confirmation and seekers' classes, and other offerings.
All are encouraged to suggest topics and materials that they would like to focus on in a study group.
St. Paul's Sunday School meets September-May:
Classes meet after our 9:30 church service with time to grab some coffee hour fellowship beforehand. The nursery is open 9:15-noon.
Children's Sunday School: Our classes are separated into two groups, to accomodate small children and older kids. Classes, exploring Old Testament stories, Jesus' ministry, baptism, the church year and liturgy (All Saints', ministry of a bishop, etc.), and hands-on projects that cultivate relationships, engage creation, and serve others. There are also opportunities for children to take part in plays to engage with the meaning of the Christmas story and Passion of Jesus through age-appropriate songs and plays.
Adult Sunday School: Adults gather in our library for discussion-based studies. During the summer of 2019, an Adult Sunday Forum, led by our Deacon during the Sunday School hour, opened conversations on controversial issues members listed as areas they wanted to explore. The Forum provides a safe space to discuss hard topics with an emphasis of love and respect for one another.
Wednesday Bible Study: We meet on Wednesday mornings to read and discuss a book of the Bible with coffee, light refreshments, and laughter.
